My Web Designing History
How it all got started
Embarrassingly enough I first got introduced to the word of web design when I was in 7th grade, I believe I must have been at least a mere 13 years old then. That summer I made a small website that housed some pictures and different pieces of junk that I couldn't believe I was into then. I'm embarrassed by it, and would not be showing it freely to the world, but I figure it's what makes things interesting.
It wasn't long, however, until it was abandoned, and I had moved onto Yahoo! Geocities. The Drag and Drop tool made designing easier for me as my html knowledge was very limited, and I still had yet to learn about the beauty of css. Again it served as a simple personal website sans blog. Unfortunately, I erased that website long ago, and I wish I hadn't, as I would have loved to show you the progress I'd made since. During the time I kept the site, I was starting to finally grasp the basics of html, and ever bits and pieces of css.
And then yet again, I found myself making a new site, this time using Freewebs. Like my previous site, there is nothing left of this one to show you. But because knowledge of html was needed to build a website on Freewebs, it gave me the opportunity to experiment with the new information I'd learned. I kept the site longer than I had ever kept the other ones. It must have been at least half a year until I closed it down.
And by that time, I knew just about enough html and css to code my own layouts--not correctly, though I might add. The last free hosted site I made came from Sailormoon.com after I had signed up for an email account. I didn't keep it very long, but during the time it gave me more practice with the medium, before I ventured into buying a real doman of my own.
The first domain I registered was Loserette.com, and I had gotten it as a birthday present when I turned 15. Honestly, looking back now I don't know why I had chosen the name. I suppose I must have thought it sounded interesting then. But anyway, after a year I gave up the domain, and let it perish along with the other numerous unrenewed rejects. Then following year, on my birthday again, I registered this, Strawberrycolada.com, and Fanatik-ism.net. I love the name, and I doubt I'll let ever let this domain expire.
Nowadays I think I'm much more into graphic design than I am into web designing. Although there are times when I feel quite the opposite.
